Overview
Mosey: Custom Walking Tours ("Mosey," "the app," "we," "us") is an iPhone and iPad app made by LastLap Lab LLC. LastLap Lab LLC is responsible for your data under this policy.
The short version: there is no account and no sign-in. Your location is used to plan a walk and isn’t stored by us. Saved tours, walks and settings stay on your phone. No ads, no tracking, no analytics SDKs, and we never sell data.
No Account
Mosey has no account, sign-up or sign-in. We don’t ask for your name, email address or phone number.
Location
- While the app is open: Mosey uses your location to plan tours near you and to show where you are on the map.
- In the background: only during a Free Range walk that you start. Mosey records your route so it can draw where you went. Background location stops when you end the walk.
We don’t keep a history of where you have been. A Free Range route is saved only on your phone, and only if you choose to keep the walk.
Planning a Tour
When you plan a tour, your start point, the distance or time you chose, and your interests are sent to our tour-planning server. The server passes them to Anthropic (Claude), which picks the stops and writes the story for each one. Our server keeps the request only long enough to return the tour, and does not keep your location. Anthropic handles this data under its privacy policy.
Places, Maps and Routes
To find places and build a walking route, Mosey looks things up with these services. Each one receives the coordinates needed for that lookup:
- OpenStreetMap (Overpass): nearby landmarks and places.
- Wikipedia: background on landmarks and history.
- MapQuest: walking routes and place search.
- Google Places: if you turn on the optional “enhanced venue info” setting, and always for themed food and drink crawls, for ratings, photos and opening hours.
Spoken Narration
Mosey can read each stop’s story aloud. If you choose the “natural voice” option, the stop text is sent to an online speech service to create the audio. The standard voice runs on your phone.
Shared Tour Links
If you share a tour, that tour (its title, stops and stories) is stored with Supabase so the link works for whoever you send it to. Only the tour you choose to share is stored. It contains no personal data.
Camera
The camera is used only for Landmark Lens, to show labels for nearby landmarks over the live view. Nothing is recorded or saved, and no images leave your phone.
Microphone and Speech Recognition
Used only for voice input in the tour planner, and only when you tap to speak.
Motion and Fitness
Step counts are read only during Free Range walks. They stay on your phone.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the Trip Pass are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details. See Apple’s privacy policy.
What Stays on Your Phone
Saved tours, Free Range walks, your free-tour count and your settings (such as miles or kilometers) are stored on your device. Deleting the app removes them.
What We Don’t Do
- No ads.
- No tracking across apps or websites.
- No analytics SDKs in the app.
- We don’t sell or rent data to anyone.
This Website
moseytourbuilder.com counts page visits with Umami, which uses no cookies and does not identify you.
Children
Mosey is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Choices
You can turn off location, camera, microphone or motion access at any time in iOS Settings. Because we keep no account or profile, there is nothing about you on our side to access or delete. To remove your data, delete the app. If you want a shared tour link taken down, email us the link.
Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page.
