Privacy Policy

Overview

Mosey Tour Builder ("the app," "we," "us") is an iOS application developed by Geoff Baron. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and what we share with third parties.

The short version: we do not collect personal information, we do not require you to create an account, and your location data is never stored on our servers.

Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not require account registration or sign-in of any kind.
• We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information.
• We do not store your location history on our servers.
• We do not use advertising networks or sell data to third parties.

Location Data

Mosey Tour Builder requests access to your device's location using the "When In Use" permission — meaning location is only accessed while the app is open and in the foreground.

Your location is used for two purposes:

• Tour generation: Your current location is sent to our backend and mapping services (described below) to plan a walking tour near you. This coordinate is used transiently to generate the tour and is not retained by us after the request is fulfilled.
• On-map position tracking: While you are actively walking a tour, the app displays your real-time position on the map so you can navigate. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted anywhere.

We never store your location on our servers. We never build a history of where you have been.

Data Stored on Your Device

The app uses Apple's UserDefaults and local on-device storage to save:

• Tour count: The number of tours you have generated (used to enforce the 3-tour free limit).
• Saved tours: Tour routes, stop information, and narration text you have previously generated, stored locally so you can revisit them.

This data never leaves your device and is not backed up to our servers. If you delete the app, this data is permanently removed from your device.

Third-Party Services

The app integrates with the following third-party services to generate and display tours. Each has its own privacy policy.

Anthropic API

We use Anthropic's API to generate tour itineraries and narration text. Your current location (as a coordinate) and your selected interests are sent to Anthropic's API to produce the tour. Anthropic processes this data according to their Privacy Policy. Anthropic does not use API request data to train their models by default.

Google Places API

We use Google's Places API to look up real venues, ratings, photos, and hours near each tour stop. Your approximate location and stop addresses are sent to Google as part of these requests. Google processes this data according to their Privacy Policy.

MapLibre GL

The app uses MapLibre GL for map rendering. MapLibre is an open-source library; map tiles may be fetched from a tile provider depending on your configuration. No personal information is sent to MapLibre.

In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

Mosey Pro subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment information, credit card details, or billing address. Apple handles all payment processing in accordance with their Privacy Policy.

We receive only an anonymized receipt token from Apple confirming subscription status — no financial details.

Children's Privacy

Mosey Tour Builder is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

Data Retention

Because we do not collect personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our end. All app data is stored locally on your device and can be removed by deleting the app.

Your Rights

Since we do not collect personal data, there is no profile for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. For any questions about data processed by our third-party providers (Anthropic, Google), please refer to their respective privacy policies linked above.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
